The Subaru Tribeca Special Edition will be on display at the 2009 North American International Show in Detroit next month along with four other models and one concept vehicle.

Subaru has taken the extraordinary step to assure everyone that they will, indeed, appear at next month’s auto show in Detroit by sending out a press release stating that fact. Apparently, there has been some concern that Subaru would join three Japanese rivals — Nissan/Infiniti, Suzuki, and Mistubishi as well as Rolls-Royce, Land Rover, Ferrari, and Porsche — by staying away.

Instead, Subaru will be in Detroit with eleven vehicles including an undisclosed concept. These models include the following:

  • LEGACY 2.5i Limited 4AT-S
  • OUTBACK 2.5i Special Edition MT5 and 3.0R Limited 5AT-S
  • IMPREZA 2008 WRC Replica Vehicle, 2.5i 4-Door Premium 4AT-S, WRX 4-Door Premium MT5, WRX STI 5-Door and MT6 – Silver BBS Wheels
  • TRIBECA 7-Passenger Special Edition
  • FORESTER 2.5X Premium with AWP MT5 and 2.5XT Limited with NAVI
  • Concept Feature Reveal Concept Vehicle

With their press release, Subaru mentioned that they are the only full line manufacturer to show an increase in U.S. sales year to date (through November 2008) and that they also are the recipient of Motor Trends Sport/Utility Vehicle of the Year award for the 2009 Subaru Forester.

The North American International Auto Show will be held from January 17-25, 2009, at the Cobo Convention Center in downtown Detroit, Michigan. Press days and other special events begin on January 11.
