Ford Announces Pricing For All New Mustang

Submitted by on February 20, 2009 – 9:15 am3 Comments

Base Model Will Retail For Under $21,000

2010 Ford Mustang Convertible

2009 will certainly be a good year for Ford, at least when it comes to updating its product portfolio. Hopefully, the company’s many new products will bolster sales and work toward bringing Ford back to profitability.

This Spring the 2010 Ford Mustang arrives in Ford showrooms, continuing a sporty tradition that dates back to 1964 when the first Mustangs were rolled out. Since then, Ford is the only one of the three major American car manufacturers who has kept their “pony car” in production with both GM and Chrysler bowing out for a time.

Mustang Now Has Competition From Camaro & Challenger

The Chevrolet Camaro returns next month, joining the Dodge Challenger in a bid to unseat the Mustang. Given Ford’s pricing ($20,995 for the V6 coupe) and history, both the Camaro and Challenger will be left in the Mustang’s dust. We shall soon see!

“More than 9 million customers have made Mustang one of the world’s most beloved automotive and cultural icons,” said Ken Czubay, Ford’s vice president of U.S. Sales and Marketing. “Making sure this modern legend lives up to their expectations has been our driving force to create the best Mustang ever. Not only is this the best Mustang ever, it’s also the best bang for the buck for our customers.”

Retro, Contemporary Design Combination

If you liked the current generation Mustang which was introduced in 2005, then you’ll also like the new one. Although completely redone, the newest Mustang continues with the retro look of the current model, but also incorporates a more contemporary feel. The trademark tri-bar tail lights are there, but they are now curved. Inside, the interior is upgraded as Ford tossed the plastic look and came up with a cabin that includes aluminum treatment.

“Attention to detail is the bedrock of the new interior and what sets Mustang miles apart from the competition,” said Mustang Design Manager Gary Morales.

Ford’s AdvanceTrac® Electronic Stability Control system, all-speed traction control, anti-lock brakes and front and side air bags are included on every model including the base V-6 coupe. Other prices announced is $25,995 for the convertible, $27,995 for the V-8 powered GT coupe; $32,995 for the GT convertible starts, $46,325 for the Shelby GT500 Coupe while the GT500 Convertible starts at $51,225.

Most Fuel Efficient Car In Its Class

Ford is also making a big deal about the V-6 models highway fuel economy. At 26 mpg, the Mustang offers the best mileage of the three pony cars and weighs some 300 lbs. less.

With Congress and the Obama administration bent on putting the squeeze on the auto industry, you can bet that Ford will make a lot of noise about every sort of “green” edge the Mustang has over the competition. Personally, give me the V-8!
