Nissan’s “Denki Cube” EV Concept

Making its debut at the March 2008 New York International Auto Show, the Nissan Denki Cube concept offers a strong hint where Nissan is going with their future product releases. Although the demo model was an electric vehicle, a redesigned gasoline powered Denki Cube will be at Nissan dealers in the United States and Canada in 2009.

The production version of the Denki Cube will offer three rows of seats, whereas the EV concept just two. Some of the standout features of the vehicle include:

• Rear bumper with hidden tail lights

• A fixed glass panel roof to replace the roof’s sheet metal

• Radical “lightning” headlight design

• Instrument panel with IP-mounted shift button

The Denki Cube represents Nissan’s “Green Program 2010″ initiative to offer flexible fuel vehicles, a smaller more efficient gas model, and the launch of an electric vehicle sometime in the early part of the next decade.
