You Can Plug-In This Volvo Concept

Everyone is getting in to the hybrid game, including Volvo the Swedish automaker which is owned by the Ford Motor Company. At the 2007 Frankfurt Auto Show, Volvo introduced its ReCharge Concept a vehicle which hooks up to a power source just like your vacuum cleaner.
Okay, the ReCharge is a bit more appealing than your Eureka upright or Hoover canister vacuum, but the cord shown in the first and last photograph on this page looks awfully like the one connected to my Dyson cleaner.

Volvo reportedly (Volvo’s ReCharge plug-in hybrid concept: this time it’s for serious) is teaming up with General Motors’ Saab brand to develop plug-in hybrids and is expected to have ten vehicles at the ready in the near future for testing.

One thing of note with so many dedicated hybrids are their “striking” designs. Wind drag is an important part of the equation when designing hybrids and this model is no exception.

Remember, this is only a concept therefore if the technology ever becomes a reality for Volvo and Saab, the final product could look quite different. Likely, both companies will need a “boost” from their parent companies by sharing technology and costs.
Here’s hoping that the Electrolux front end look isn’t part of the final edition.
