Energy Storage Research Engineer

Job Details:

Ford Motor Company, a leading manufacturer of automobiles and automotive products, is searching for several highly skilled and motivated candidates in the area of energy storage research to support the development of current and future hybrid electric and plug-in vehicles in its Product Development and Research & Advanced Engineering organizations. There are several openings in the energy storage research area and potential candidates with a strong background in the following fields are encouraged to apply:

•Large format lithium ion cell design development and qualification
•Working constructively with outside organizations on joint research and development
•Advanced battery cell testing and detailed evaluation
•Energy storage technology development in a multi-organizational team
•Battery and cell usage analysis and related specification development
•Battery test lab operations, planning and test methods development
•Advanced battery controls research and new concept development
•Cell electrochemical modeling and validation
•Material selection and evaluation, including electrode, electrolyte and separator materials
•Manufacturing of battery cells and related materials
•Cell performance, life, and degradation research investigations and modeling
•Key Life Test development and evaluation
•Automotive cell reliability analysis, including design and process failure mode and effects analysis
•Detailed battery cell cost analysis and modeling
•Hybrid battery system and hybrid vehicle operations

Candidates for these positions should have the following educational and vocational experiences and skills:

•M.S. or higher degree in Chemical Engineering, Electrochemistry or related fields with a specialty in one of the areas listed above
•At least 5 years of hands-on experience researching, developing or testing energy storage devices and related materials
•Excellent teamwork and communication skills
•Self-motivated with the ability to manage multiple tasks
•Proficient computer skills
