Description:

Korean automaker, Kia Motors, which is part of the Hyundai-Kia Automotive Group announced plans in March 2006 to build a manufacturing plant in West Point, GA. A 2200 acre site was purchased and production began in December 2009. Kia says that their investment in their Georgia operation will total approximately one billion dollars.

For a one month period during the first quarter of 2008, Kia accepted applications for manufacturing positions at that plant. More than 43,000 applications were received; the application process is now closed.

Kia says that its new plant will have the capacity to build 300,000 vehicles annually when operating at peak production. 2500 direct jobs will come to the West Point, GA plant with hundreds, perhaps thousands of additional support positions expected to be made available from suppliers and other businesses in the vicinity of the plant.

However, KMMG is still looking to fill dozens of staff positions at the plant including positions in finance, public relations, maintenance, paint, human resources, among others. These jobs will be located at a nearby facility in LeGrange, GA.
